“I truly believe that we can make the world a better place by creating and growing successful online businesses as therapists while living life on our own terms.”
Are you ready to dream big and create the business and life you really want?
Almost as soon as I launched my website in 2015, colleagues started reaching out, wanting to know more about how to become a location independent therapist. Honestly, I had no idea! All I had was this weird dream of travelling while doing the work I love. But, most of the business and marketing advice I could find just didn’t seem to apply to a counselling business. So it took me quite a few years of trial and error to understand what it really takes to be a successful location independent therapist!
But, as hard as it was to figure it all out and as hard as it sometimes still is to be my own boss, I love that I get to work with amazing clients (and colleagues!) from all over the world while travelling myself, moving between multiple places I call home, and, of course, exploring many new places (and food!) in between.
This is why I love passing on my knowledge and experience to colleagues daring to think outside the box and helping them figure out what is right for them and their business.
And no, I am not scared of the competition, on the contrary!
The world needs more of us!
So, how do you do this?
I’ll be honest with you, starting, growing, and running a successful online business as a mental health professional is a lot of work.
Being a location independent therapist who travels the world and/or sees clients internationally is even more work.
You will need to figure out many things when pursuing this path, from navigating laws and regulations, to learning to think like an entrepreneur and business owner and figuring out what marketing will work for your business and your specific offer and target audience.
Yes, it’s a lot of work. But, you don’t have to do it alone!
Connect with and learn from like-minded colleagues
The best thing I ever did (apart from hiring an assistant who manages most of my marketing tasks) was to surround myself with like-minded colleagues. I loved it so much that in 2020 I co-founded an international community for colleagues – the Location Independent Therapists (LIT) Community.
The LIT Community offers a place to inspire and support location independent mental health professionals as they grow their businesses.
You’ll find colleagues from all over the world working with clients across countries, languages, and time zones. You can connect and collaborate through the discussion board and various events that focus on both business building and supporting your work with clients. We also offer an online directory featuring our members and encourage referrals amongst members.
Working from home (wherever in the world that may be) can be incredibly lonely, but with LIT it doesn’t have to be.
Does this sound like what you’re looking for to help you bring your business to the next level?
